Re: "Mayor fires back, Coleman backtracks," the Now, Jan. 29.

Surrey council and Mayor Dianne Watts are to be commended for listening to the concerns of the Surrey public, eloquently expressed at public hearings held for precisely that purpose.

No amount of backtracking from Minister Rich Coleman and BCLC CEO Michael Graydon, assisted no doubt by the hard-working brigade of PR flacks in Christy Clark's office, can change the fact that their outrageous outbursts on the rejection of their casino project were completely offside.

We have been treated once again by a demonstration of this government's arrogant attitude, which made possible the continuing, amazing HST catastrophe.
