Shame on Mayor Lois Jackson and the corporation of Delta for resorting to bullying tactics to ensure Delta remains recovery-house-free.

VisionQuest is a wonderful organization doing wonderful, compassionate work. The men being helped have worked very hard to do the right thing - getting off drugs and alcohol, cleaning up their lives, renovating the motel where they were staying and attending meetings. They are respectful, hopeful and looking for a new start for their troubled lives.

Could Delta council cut them some slack and compromise? No - it did everything it could to make life as difficult as possible for people who are already stressed to the limit.

NIMBY isn't a pretty attribute - no matter where it pops up.

We're sitting here trying to teach our children to be kind and compassionate to each other. We are trying to teach our children empathy.

Mayor Jackson, I am disgusted. This year my pink shirt was dedicated to the hypocritical politicians from all levels of government who feel that they can get away with bullying each other and organizations such as VisionQuest while preaching anti-bullying slogans to children.
