The new garbage program, in my opinion, is excellent. The carts are a tidier method and improvement over a mishmash of receptacles. Yes, there may be some missed pickups and, for those who do not take the time to read the pamphlets mailed or be informed, it is possible the carts may be unsuitable in certain cases.

During the past few months, the city has provided ample information. How about some understanding that all new procedures may have some initial wrinkles but staff are working to deal with all aspects?

As for the telephone overload at the beginning, that should not come as a surprise - and why the rush anyway? The operators were courageous to show up for work as they probably had to deal with unnecessary abuse.
