Highrise horrible idea

The Editor,

Re: "Council says Scott Road needs 'flashy' highrise," the Now, Dec. 27.

We do not need "diversity" of the sort the Delta Coun. Robert Campbell talked about in the Now. We like the way we are. Diversity is not a 37-storey building, it is a cultural concept. A 14-storey building like the ones in the same area are high enough.

Furthermore, traffic on and near Scott Road is already ridiculous. Add in 359 more units for people to live in and it will be at a standstill a lot of times.

As to commercial space in the building - did they not look at all the empty units in the strip malls along Scott Road? It doesn't look like we need more.

We have three sons who are young homebuyers - they don't want to live in condos, and most definitely not just off Scott Road. They want houses away from the traffic. This development will not attract them at all. When we retire, we will not be looking to live in a major traffic area either.

After living here for 30 years, this will not make me want to stay in North Delta much longer.

L. Baitz, Delta
