DELTA - The Burns Bog Conservation Society hosted its annual International Bog Day celebration Sunday.
The free event took place in the parking lot of Planet Ice Delta (10388 Nordel Ct.), and featured a mix of entertainment, including performers, dancers, singers and bands.
Situated between the Fraser River and Boundary Bay, the 10,000-acre bog is a unique and fascinating environment. A bog is a special kind of wetland that stores up to 20 times more carbon dioxide than a rain forest.
Before International Bog Day celebrations got going, the annual Jog for the Bog ran through the trails of the Delta Nature Reserve took place. Click through the above photos to see some of the action.
