Food, music, dancing and an auction are part of "Viva Surrey!" to benefit Surrey Christmas Bureau.

Latin American culture will be celebrated during the event, on Saturday, Feb. 9.

"Each year, more and more people from Latin America move into our city," noted K.C. Gilroy, co-ordinator of Surrey Christmas Bureau. "'Viva Surrey!' is a perfect place to learn more about our neighbours and their culture and support a good cause at the same time. It would make an excellent Valentine's Day date, too."

Performers at the event will include Luisa Marshall (paying tribute to dead pop diva Selena), the band Mayan Marimba, dancers Alberto Gonzalez and Teresa Szefler as Hot Salsa Dance Zone and the salsa band Moviendolo, led by Surrey's Edwin Martinez.

Local restaurants will offer authentic Latin American food for sale. There will also be silent auction items, prize draws and lots of chances to try your best salsa moves.

Tickets are being pre-sold for $15 via 604-581-9623. The hall is at 6543 132nd St., Surrey. For info, visit christmasbureau.com.
