Screenwriting sessions at SFU Surrey site

A six-week workshop for aspiring screenwriters starts Oct. 23 at SFU Surrey's acclaimed Praxis Centre.

The sessions are led by instructor Belle Mott, a North Delta-based writer whose first comedy, Pink Ludoos, was produced by Brightlight Pictures for CityTV and won the Best Canadian Feature award at the Reel World film festival in Toronto. Mott's latest script, Dowry Kings, is in development with Submission Films.

Her workshop happens Tuesday evenings from 6 to 9 p.m. and is targeted at those with ideas or scripts underway.

Mott will lead a small group through the creative process, with an opportunity for students to write their own short scripts or outlines for feature films.

The workshop covers the basics of story structure, character development and dialogue as well as the creative use of genre, international styles and tips on getting work produced.

To register, or for more workshop details, call 778-782-7880 or email praxis@ sfu.ca.
