GOOD, BAD AND UGLY: Politicians weigh in on their fond - and not so fond - Christmas memories

Surrey Mayor Dianne Watts:

Worst Christmas present: "One of the worst presents I ever had was this clock. It was a cat clock, it's eyes would move, it was really annoying." We assume the "was" in that statement means it got "accidentally" thrown out.

Best Christmas present: "My daughter was born 18 years ago at the end of October. I was in the hospital for a while after that. Having a brand new baby close to Christmas, for me, that was the best gift."

Favourite Christmas movie: It's a Wonderful Life

Favourite Christmas song: "Little Drummer Boy"

Favourite Christmas movie: It's a Wonderful Life

Favourite Christmas song: "Little Drummer Boy"
Surrey Coun. Barinder Rasode:

Worst Christmas present: "I grew up in a small family, so it was sort of limited in gifts. I guess the worst would be when you're growing up and you get ugly clothes and your mom makes you wear them. You weren't allowed to be fashionistas in those days."

Best Christmas present: "For me it's always jewelry."

Favourite Christmas movie: The Grinch by Dr. Seuss

Favourite Christmas song: "My daughter loves Justin Bieber. So the song 'Mistletoe,' I have to listen to it all the time."
Surrey Coun. Bruce Hayne:

Worst Christmas present: "My grandmother, who lives in Scotland, would knit us stuff when I was a kid. But she would knit stuff remembering what we look like from a year or two years before when we visited. So you got these mittens or whatever that were tiny and wouldn't fit. At the time it was the worst, but looking back, it was just done with absolute love."

Best Christmas present: "I think the best present I ever got was the key to my fiance_'s apartment in my stocking. That was 24 years ago."

Favourite Christmas movie: Christmas Vacation with Chevy Chase

Favourite Christmas song: "So This is Christmas," John Lennon
Surrey Coun. Linda Hepner:

Worst Christmas present: "What I don't like to get is money. I would rather have someone say wash my car or do something than give me cash."

Best Christmas present: "I'm looking at it on my tree right now. It's an angel that my son made that he sewed for me when he was a little boy. It says, 'To Mom' on the bottom in stitches but the words cover the toes, so it actually says 'Tom Mom.' But I love it."

Favourite Christmas movie: Miracle on 34th Street

Favourite Christmas song: "Joy to the World" and "Hark the Herald Angels Sing." "Anything that reminds me that it's Jesus's birthday, and reminds me that Christmas is more than just Santa Claus."
Surrey Coun. Judy Villeneuve:

Worst Christmas present: "That's hard to say. To me, every present is a good present because it's given with love."

Best Christmas present: "This Christmas I get to celebrate Christmas with my grandchildren. One of them will be four months old on Christmas. The other is three and a half. That's the best Christmas present."

Favourite Christmas movie: It's a Wonderful Life

Favourite Christmas song: "I'll Be Home for Christmas"
White Rock Mayor Wayne Baldwin:

Worst Christmas present: "The worst was when I got no present from my kids. It wasn't that bad, but I cried a little inside."

Best Christmas present: "In 2006, we had a family Christmas vacation and that was really great."

Favourite Christmas movie: A Christmas Carol

Favourite Christmas song: "Silent Night"
White Rock Coun. Larry Robinson:

Worst Christmas present: "A really ugly sweater. It didn't fit and it was disgusting. It was so ugly that my wife loved it, and now she wears it. It was lime green and black."

Best Christmas present: "The best present, I know, is this year. I'm getting a ski helmet." Did he go snooping? "No, I had to try it on to make sure it fit."

Favourite Christmas movie: A Christmas Carol. "And anything Chevy Chase is funny."

Favourite Christmas song: "White Christmas"
White Rock Coun. Grant Meyer:

Worst Christmas present: "Everyone gets socks or something when you're a kid. You're just kind of like, 'Oh boy.'"

Best Christmas present: "I guess the best would be a bicycle when I was a little kid. I really wanted a bike."

Favourite Christmas movie: Elf or A Christmas Story

Favourite Christmas song: "Sleigh Ride"
Delta Mayor Lois Jackson:

Worst Christmas present: "A frying pan that my husband bought many years ago. I think he was trying to tell me something!"

Best Christmas present: "My best Christmas present was a beautiful white angora collar that my sister knit for me when we were in high school, many years ago. I loved that collar and wore it for many years."
