The City of White Rock has hired a new city manager.
The city announced Tuesday that it has hired Dan Bottrill, who has over 20 years of experience working in local government.
As a chartered accountant, Bottrill has been the director of finance for the City of Abbotsford and more recently, was the deputy city manager in Surrey.
Bottrill will begin on March 21, replacing Dennis Back, who has been acting city manager since Feb. 1.
"The City of White Rock is very pleased to attract someone of Mr. Bottrill's caliber to this position, and working alongside current city staff, it is expected the city will be well served by the new administration," Mayor Wayne Baldwin said in a press release.
Former city manager Peggy Clark announced her retirement on Dec. 21 after six years in the position.
When Clark announced her retirement, Mayor Wayne Baldwin said she left on friendly terms, and rejected any suggestion that she might be leaving because of her inability to work with him and the newly elected council.
At the time, Baldwin wouldn't disclose the terms of Clark's severance package.
