Membership drive for 400

Semiahmoo House Society is on a mission to sign up more members.

The South Surrey-based organization delivers services for people with disabilities and their families.

The society currently has 80 members, and has a goal to reach 400 by the end of 2014, Doug Tennant, co-executive director, says in a letter to prospective new members.

"Our appeal for membership is not about fundraising," he wrote. "The membership fees we collect represent only two per cent of revenues derived through philanthropic activities. Our appeal is about joining forces with the community-living movement and creating momentum for the inclusion of people with disabilities in our society."

Membership fees are $15 for an individual, $25 for a family and $50 for an organization. For more details, visit www.semi-housesociety.com/membership.html.
