VOLUNTEERING

White Rock RCMP Community Policing is looking for volunteers. "If you have 100 hours a year to spare and want to join our team, please contact Julia Everett at 778-593-3611. Activities include Van Patrol, Bike Patrol, Speed Watch and more. Applicants must be prepared to pass a security assessment, which normally takes about four months to process."

Fraser Health Crisis Line is recruiting volunteers to provide assistance to people in the region who are experiencing emotional distress. Dutch-Canadian Cultural Society of Greater Vancouver, incorporated in 1965, has goal "to provide entertaining venues in the Lower Mainland whereby Dutch-Canadians and their friends can come together to preserve, enhance and celebrate, their heritage and cultural traditions." Newcomers Club of White Rock and South Surrey is a club for women who are new to the area. WAV (Widows at Victory): Social events for widows to meet other widows and have a social outing. South Surrey Soul Sisters, a Gogo group under auspices of Stephen Lewis Foundation, supporting African grandmothers raising 14 million orphaned children, holds monthly meetings. Fraser Valley Multiple Miracles: Non-profit society offers support for families of multiples (twins, triplets, etc.). Group meets monthly at Clayton Hall in Surrey on first Wednesday of each month (excluding Dec. and June), 7 p.m., providing support, friendship and fun for moms of multiples, exploring challenges and experiences. Seniors Come Share Society Java Caregiver Group: "Join us every Tuesday at 9: 30 a.m. and Thursday at 10 a.m. for a caregiver group designed to validate caregivers for who they are and what they do, share experiences, strength and hope and to have fun." Call Andrea, 604-531-9400, ext. 29.
