Get your dancing workout shoes on for Friday's Zumbathon.
Fitness trainer Michelle Roots is organizing the event as a fundraiser for the Surrey Food Bank. Zumba is a Colombian fitness program that incorporates dance and aerobics.
"I thought this would be a great way to make some money for a good cause and also introduce people to this different way of working up a sweat, burning calories and having a good time," said Roots.
Roots partnered with Aspire Music Dance and Fitness about a month ago to open a studio offering dance, music and fitness classes for all age groups.
The two-hour dance workout will be led by Kimberly Hunt and Natasha Howarth, certified Zumba instructors.
Admission is $10 at the door and non-perishable food items will also be accepted. There will be door prizes and refreshments for participants.
The Zumbathon will be Friday, Dec. 14 from 6: 30 to 8: 30 p.m. at the Core Conditioning studio, at 215-6333 148th Ave., Surrey. To register, call 604-351-5000.
