Staples stores in Surrey have kicked off their annual "Stuff the Bus" campaign with the aim of filling more than 1,000 backpacks with school supplies for disadvantaged kids.
To fill those backpacks, Staples estimates it needs about $130,000. Three stores have jumped into action with fundraisers and school supply drives in each location. The campaign has raised more than $95,000 in the last five years in order to get necessary supplies into students' hands through the Surrey school district's community schools programs. This year, Telus Community Ambassadors have partnered with the program to donate the backpacks.
