SURREY — Congratulations to the 2013 Grant Recipients and Heroes of the Homeless.
The Surrey Homeless and Housing Society recently hosted an evening of food and music to celebrate those who are working to end homelessness in Surrey.
The 2013 annual grant recipients are:
Elizabeth Fry Society of Greater Vancouver: Women's Drop-In Centre; Elizabeth Fry Society of Greater Vancouver: Shelter Amalgamation Feasibility Study; Greater Vancouver Regional Steering Committee on Homelessness: 2014 Greater Vancouver Homeless Count; Kekinow Native Housing Society: Aboriginal Gathering Place; Keys: Housing & Health Solutions: Pre-Development Plan; Launching Pad Addictions Rehabilitation Society: Envelope Repair Project; Luke 15 House: Freezer Installation; Pacific Community Resources Society: Youth Housing Outreach Worker; Realistic Success Recovery Society: Homeless 2 Home; Servants Anonymous Society: Victory Home; and Surrey Homelessness & Housing Task Force: Community Table.
The 2013 Heroes of the Homeless, recognized for their outstanding contributions to the work of ending homelessness in Surrey, are:
Dick Avison: South Surrey Extreme Weather Shelter; Dr. Ken Stones: Peace Arch Dental Clinic; and Surrey Libraries, City Centre Library: Various programs and services designed for homeless and at-risk populations as well as their sponsorship for the youth-at-risk film workshops.
