WHALLEY - A Surrey man who was badly injured in a traffic crash in Whalley in 2008 has been awarded nearly $1.3 million for damages.
Justice Bruce Cohen found that Randy Rajinder Bains, who was 26 year old at the time of the collision, is entitled to $1,286,728.
The case was heard in B.C. Supreme Court in Vancouver, where Cohen rendered his decision on Oct. 4.
The crash happened June 11, 2008, at the intersection of 92nd Avenue and 132nd Street, roughly a block from where Bains and his wife Sukhdeep live in their rented home.
Bains' car collided with a vehicle driven by Jasvir Singh Brar.
Bains sustained serious and permanent spinal injury and lives with chronic pain, the court heard.
He had worked as a machinist.
