Potters sale Dec. 1-2

The annual Semiahmoo Potters Christmas Sale is coming up this weekend.

Diane Petersen, president of the local amateur potters' club, told the Now that while members are not professional potters, many of them are quite accomplished. And, she noted, many people in the area look forward to the annual sale to pick up one-of-a-kind, beautiful, functional pieces to give as Christmas gifts.

Among the range of items for sale this weekend are mugs, plates, bowls, vases, freehand pieces and, of course, the always popular butter dishes made by a longtime club member.

The sale runs Saturday, Dec. 1 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, Dec. 2 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Ocean Park Community Hall, 1577 128th St., South Surrey.

Organizers ask that shoppers please bring their own bags and remember they can accept cash or cheques.

As always, there is a door prize to be won - this year, a large vessel created in 2011 by accomplished potter Charmian Nimmo.
