Re: "Defeat of bullying bill 'breaks heart,' says Sims," the Now, Nov. 29.

I would like to thank Surrey-North Delta MP Jinny Sims and other NDP and Liberal MPs who supported Danny Morin's private member's bill to create a national bullying prevention strategy for Canada.

Bullying is a serious and critical issue, not just for the youth of our country, but for all of us.

A civilized society cannot stand by and allow children's lives to be devastated by this kind of behaviour.

Canada needs a comprehensive strategy to address both the causes and effects of bullying.

The 149 Conservative members of parliament who defeated this bill by opposing it en masse should be ashamed of themselves.
