VOLUNTEERING

Volunteer literacy tutors needed by Learning Disabilities Association: "Help a child who is struggling to read and write. You must have excellent English skills, love to read and enjoy working with children." Tutoring locations in Surrey and Langley. Extensive training provided. CLUBS/GROUPS

Cloverdale Garden Club meets on the second Thursday of each month (from September to June) at Clayton hall, 18513 70th Ave., 7 p.m. Guest speakers, field trips, raffle, etc. Info: Lynne, 604-576-6338.

CFUW (Canadian Federation of University Women) North Delta/Surrey is a club open to all women graduates, students and associates who support the mission and ideals of CFUW, and represent many countries. The club provides annual scholarships and bursaries to deserving female graduates who are going on to university. Monthly meetings (September to June).

Ubuntu Ogogo: "Compassionate grandmothers" group meets on second Wednesday of month at Fleetwood Villa, 16028 83rd Ave., from 9: 30 a.m. to noon. Group works to raise funds to assist grandmothers of sub-Saharan Africa who are supporting their grandchildren due to AIDS/HIV pandemic there. Info: 778565-3555, bwarren567@shaw.ca.

Surrey Aglow: "Women meeting with women" group meets every second Thursday at Middle Eastern Friendship Centre, 13483 108th Ave., Surrey, 6 p.m. food; 7 p.m. meeting. All welcome. Fraser Valley Multiple Miracles: Non-profit society offers support for families of multiples (twins, triplets, etc.). Group meets monthly at Clayton Hall in Surrey on first Wednesday of each month (excluding Dec. and June), 7 p.m., providing support, friendship and fun for moms of multiples, exploring challenges and experiences.
