Friends and family of Maple Batalia came out on Friday to honour the memory of the slain teen one year after her murder.

A few hundred people lit candles in memory of Maple Batalia on Friday night during a vigil at Whalley's Holland Park.
Her Sept. 28, 2011 murder has not yet been solved.
Batalia, 19, was shot dead on the third storey of a parkade next to Surrey's Simon Fraser University campus. Shortly after her murder, a few hundred people attended a candlelight vigil for her at Holland Park
on a Friday evening and about the same number came this past Friday, one year later, to show they haven't forgotten.
In the days following Batalia's murder, police had 50 investigators working around the clock on the case.
On Monday, Sgt. Jennifer Pound, spokeswoman for the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team, wouldn't reveal how many officers remain assigned to the case but said it's "still a priority." Police are "still processing tips," she added.
Batalia studied health sciences at SFU and was also an aspiring actress and model.
Police found her dying of multiple gunshot wounds and paramedics tried to save her but she died in hospital. She was returning to her car after a late-night study session when she was shot.
