Have you ever taken the time to walk and shop in downtown Cloverdale? There are so many cool stores and businesses to check out.

On Wednesday, Nov. 21, Ms. Pesce brought us (Rebecca S., Avery, Morgan and Lizzie) to downtown Cloverdale to visit some businesses and check out what they had to offer.

We went to locations such as: Michauds, Little Critters, The Clova Cinema, Clover Lanes, Clothes Line Consignment, Tricia's Gems, Mallory's, Dog Gone Beautiful, La Belle Vie and The Western Gem and Mineral Supplies.

Some of the stores we visited we had never heard of before and we found them very interesting. Almost all the stores in downtown Cloverdale are family owned. Many of these families even live in Cloverdale.

As we spoke to many of the business owners, we learned that they support each other by buying things from each other's stores.

Paige Hardy, owner of Clothes Line Consignment, lives locally and her children attend schools in Cloverdale.

Not only do the Cloverdale business owners support each other's stores, but they also help out in the community. Some of the businesses donate items to local schools for fundraisers.

Lynn Easton, owner of Dog Gone Beautiful, supports Surrey Community Living by assisting with various special needs programs.

It made us feel proud that there are kind people in our community willing to support each other. We feel that people in Surrey should take the time to go check out some of our own local businesses and show our appreciation for their contributions to our community.

Do you want to know more about the kinds of things we found in the businesses?

Okay... keep reading then... If you're looking for a local place to buy clothes, two stores that we went to were Mallory's and the Clothes Line Consignment. The clothes in both of these locations are super nice and name brand. Mallory's is supplied by local designers and is a great place for grad dresses/formal wear. Clothes Line Consignment had so many amazing purses, hats, shoes and jewelry, as well as some very well-priced clothing items.

Michauds is a great place if you need your hair done or hair supplies or products.

La Belle Vie and Tricia's Gems are very cool and unique. They have the coolest things like, home decor, ornaments and cool trinkets!

Little Critters has a huge selection of young kid items like baby slippers, clothing, dance wear, shoes, boots, kid furniture, books, toys and headwear.

Clover Lanes is one of the oldest businesses in downtown Cloverdale. Did you know that Clover Lanes, as well as Clova Cinema, has been around for over 60 years? They're also the original buildings!

Clover Lanes does birthday parties, laser bowling and has a full restaurant.

One of our favourite visits was at a store that we had never visited before. The Western Gem and Mineral Supplies store is located right across the street from the Cloverdale Library and it is full of cool things like all kinds of gems, jewelry and equipment to make jewelry. The prices at this store were amazing! We saw so many pretty earrings and necklaces that were very reasonably priced.

Dog Gone Beautiful has all sorts of dog accessories like bows, collars, outfits and they also groom.

Do not just take our word for it... head to downtown Cloverdale and check out some of these stores.

We would like to give a special shout out to the Clova Cinema because they need more money and business to switch to digital equipment so they can have a bigger selection of movies.
