Re: "'Childish' shirts take shot at city," the Now, Feb. 12.
The Now reported at length on Don Pitcairn's T-shirt message in his misguided attempt to focus attention upon the alarming increase in gun violence in Surrey.
We live in Surrey and wholeheartedly share his concerns, but the City of Surrey has no jurisdiction with respect to gun control.
We only need to look immediately south to see what havoc the NRA and their gun manufacturer-funded lobby group have and continue to wreak upon the citizens of the U.S.
Gun violence is certainly on the increase all across Canada and police chiefs countrywide are united in their plea for immediate and effective gun control legislation.
Let's organize and advocate a write-in campaign or something similar to persuade Stephen Harper and his Conservative government to place this subject uppermost on its legislative agenda.
Everyone in Canada will benefit if effective gun control laws are enacted now, before it is too late. I suggest it would be far more effective than buying T-shirts.
