The Editor,
If healthy dialogue from the community is a goal of Surrey city council, the public hearing on the casino proposed for South Surrey presents a problem.
BCLC and Gateway Casinos have been allowed ample time to present their oral and written presentations.
A coalition aligned against the proposal, "No Casino Surrey," is being lumped in with individuals, pro and con. NCS's researched, written proposal is being tossed in with all other written material and will be summarized in a predigested form for council.
This in no way constitutes "healthy dialogue," but is another attempt to suppress the opposition to a dangerous expansion of gambling in our community.
We appeal for a more democratic process in which Goliath is not allowed to snatch David's sling away.
