Raising money will involve lots of laughs at this Saturday's event for Peace Arch Hospital Auxiliary Superfluity.

The thrift shop, which raises money for medical equipment for the hospital, was damaged by fire in mid-August and is still closed for repairs.

To help out, "mind master" Scott Christie is bringing his Comedy Hypnosis Show to Sawbucks Pub for a "fun-raiser."

Christie takes volunteers from the audience and makes them the star of the Vegas-style show.

"Every person that has a desire may be hypnotized. It may be worth mentioning that nobody is every forced to participate on stage," he said.

"Traditional hypnosis shows in the past was humour at the expense of the volunteers, but during my show, I make the volunteers the stars. I highlight and accentuate the talents and the creativity of people's subconscious minds."

The show is described as an energetic mix of comedy, hypnosis and non-stop laughter.

"After the show is over, people often say they wish they had volunteered to come up on stage," said Christie. "They see how much fun it is and realize that I am not going to make them cluck like a chicken or bark like a dog."

The show starts at 8 p.m. Saturday at Sawbucks, 1626 152nd St. Each $25 ticket includes a burger and beer or wine. Tickets are available at Sawbucks and the South Surrey White Rock Chamber of Commerce office, #100-15261 Russell Ave., White Rock (cash only).
