The BC Coroners Service will hold a public inquest into the 2011 police shooting death of Brendon Samuel Beddow in Crescent Beach. Coroner Margaret Janzen and a jury will hear evidence from subpoenaed witnesses, from July 15 to July 19, at the Coroners Court in Burnaby. Beddow, 23, died on March 23, 2011, after police responded to a 911 call about a domestic disturbance at a house on McBride Avenue. Witnesses told the Now at the time that Beddows had a gun and confronted the police, who then opened fire on him. The intent of the inquest is to determine the facts surrounding his death, in an effort to prevent similar ones from happening. tzytaruk@thenownewspaper.com
