Electro-rocker Lights and local band Hey Ocean will headline Surrey's Earth Day celebration Saturday, April 27.

The city's annual Party for the Planet will also feature performances by pop-punk band Fighting for Ithaca, roots-rockers The MatinŽe, singer Shane Philip and others.

Admission is free at the day-long festival, held at Central City Plaza. The action happens from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Lights, born Valerie Anne Poxleitner 25 years ago, won a Juno award for Best New Artist in 2009.

Hey Ocean plays catchy pop songs that include the hit "Big Blue Wave," with sweet vocals by Ashleigh Ball.

Lights and Hey Ocean will sign autographs at 3 p.m. April 27 at Central City Shopping Centre. For fest info, visit www.surrey.ca/partyfortheplanet.
