An overnight shooting that claimed the life of one Surrey resident is being described by police as a "targeted, gang-related shooting."

Late last night, Surrey RCMP received several calls saying shots had been fired in the 15800 block of 110 Avenue in Surrey. When police and ambulances arrived on scene, they found 46-year-old Christopher Pammenter suffering from gunshot wounds. Attempts to revive the victim were unsuccessful and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

While the incident is still in the early stages of investigation, police say it appears as if the victim was shot while in his vehicle in the driveway of his house. It was also noted that Pammenter was known to police.

Investigators will have the area closed off for the day while they retrieve evidence and canvas the neighbourhood. Anyone with information is asked to come forward and contact the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team at 1-877-4448 or by email at ihittipline@rcmp-grc.gc.ca. If they wish to remain anonymous, call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or go to solvecrime.ca.
