Seventeen large-format photographs of newspaper presses, including the Pacific Newspaper Group facility in Surrey, are featured in a new exhibit of works by Brian Howell, former staff photographer with the Now.
The North Delta-based Howell captured some striking images at printing plants in Chicago, Ottawa, Toronto and Edmonton for his Press exhibit, which opens tonight (Thursday, Feb. 28) at Winsor Gallery, now at 258 East 1st Ave., Vancouver.
Stated gallery owner Jennifer Winsor: "Brian's new body of work confounds the very essence of the five W's of journalism - who, what, where, when, why. Moreover, these haunting images capture the ever elusive 'how' - how the worlds of journalism and the printed press have dramatically shifted in the wake of the digital age."
The exhibit is on view at the gallery until April 6. For details, visit winsorgallery.com.
