Yukon-based poet Clea Roberts makes her way south for a "Readings by the Salish Sea" event in White Rock next week.

The Semiahmoo Arts-hosted event, on Thursday, Sept. 27, is a chance to experience the Yukon through the words of the award-winning poet.

Roberts' poetry delves into the physical, intellectual and historical landscape of the north. She invites us to survive a winter where "light is finite and coveted" and springtime mud is "never so exotic, tracked across the kitchen floor."

At Pelican Rouge coffee house, Roberts will read from her debut collection, Here is Where We Disembark, starting at 7: 30 p.m. The venue is located in Central Plaza, at 15142 North Bluff Rd.

"Readings by the Salish Sea" is a literary series presented by Semiahmoo Arts. For more details, visit www.semiahmooarts.com.
