It should be known within the hour what the mysterious object found on the SkyTrain guideway in Surrey is, as police bomb experts make their approach.

Anne Drennan, spokeswoman for the Transit Police, said a passenger spotted the object, which looks like a small red fire extinguisher with straps, and "wires sticking out of it."

"We're hoping it's a prank," Drennan said. Meantime, the SkyTrain line between Gateway Station and Scott Road Stations has been closed.

Drennan said the object is about midway between both stations.
