Former Liberal MP Sukh Dhaliwal wants a rematch with the NDP, but this time at the provincial level.

Dhaliwal will run for the B.C. Liberal Party in Surrey-Panorama in the next provincial election in May 2013.

Liberal Minister of Social Development Stephanie Cadieux currently holds Panorama.

Cadieux is seeking re-election but in Surrey-Cloverdale, where she lives. Liberal MLA Kevin Falcon, who is not seeking re-election, currently holds Cloverdale.

"I am fully supportive of both Sukh and Stephanie's candidacies," Falcon said. "They will ensure their ridings have strong representation for years to come."

Both Dhaliwal and Cadieux have been acclaimed, but the party will make it official during a joint candidate selection meeting on Nov. 14.

Dhaliwal served as Liberal MP for Newton-North Delta for two terms before NDP MP Jinny Sims defeated him in 2011. Dhaliwal has been a resident of Surrey-Panorama since 1997. "Offering families low taxes, a clear plan for growth and the fiscal capacity for strong systems of support are values that I firmly believe in," he said.

Cadieux said she's had a good run in Panorama but looks forward to campaigning in Cloverdale. "The opportunity to run in the riding where I live makes sense for me personally, and also continues to allow me to deliver for all of Surrey," she said. Cadieux said she expects that "being a new name" in Cloverdale will make it just as hard, if not moreso, to win in Cloverdale as what she experienced in Panorama in the last provincial election. "I had a good win there last time," she said. "I'm not taking anything for granted."
