The Surrey Christmas Bureau is gathering and training elves to help out with the holidays.
Each year, the organization makes the holiday season brighter for low-income families with toys for children and food vouchers.
There are volunteer orientation sessions on Monday, Oct. 15 - at 10 a.m., 1 and 6:30 p.m. at the Surrey Urban Mission (13388 104th Ave.). All sessions will cover the same material.
The goal of the sessions is to have new and experienced volunteers learn the history, policy and goals of the charity, and to get the Christmas spirit going. Staff, members of the board of directors, donors and others will be on hand to answer questions.
The Surrey Christmas Bureau is looking for people to man the registration desk, clerical workers, gift wrappers, shelf sorters, drivers, adopt-a-family helpers and special event volunteers.
To pre-register or for more information, contact K.C. Gilroy at coordinator@christmasbureau.com or call 604-581-9623.
