Two South Surrey elementary schools were under a lockdown for half an hour this afternoon while police hunted for three suspects related to an interrupted burglary in the 15600-block of 34th Avenue.

Rosemary Heights and Morgan elementaries schools were locked down between 2 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. while police patrolled the area. A resident had arrived home to find the three suspects running from his home, police said.

The Surrey RCMP has arrested one suspect but is still looking for the other two. Mounties also seized a storage van that appeared to contain stolen property.

No one has been harmed. "It's just a precaution," Surrey school district spokesman Doug Strachan said of the lockdown.
