Surrey man shot in Vancouver

VANCOUVER - A 26-year-old Surrey man was shot in East Vancouver early Friday morning, in the 5200-block of Dumfries Street.

Vancouver Police Const. Brian Montague said the victim's wound was not life threatening but he wouldn't reveal where he'd been struck. Police are trying to determine if this shooting, which happened at 1 a.m., is linked with a double stabbing that happened just before 9 p.m. Thursday, in the 4700-block of Slocan Street.

A 17-year-old boy and 19-year-old man were taken to hospital to be treated for stab wounds and the older victim has since been released.

"Investigators believe both incidents are connected and do not feel these attacks were random," Montague said. He wouldn't elaborate. "We've got no new information we can share."

No suspects have been arrested. The victims' names have not been released.

Police ask anyone with information to contact the Vancouver Police Assault/Robbery Unit at 604-717-2541.
