SURREY - A little girl named Tanvir was killed Wednesday night when she rode out into an alley on her plastic tricycle and hit an SUV.

The accident happened in the 13400-block of 83A Avenue in Newton, at about 8:45 p.m. The two-year-old girl was flown by air ambulance to BC Children's Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

Police say the toddler had been playing with her five-year-old sister on their driveway when she rolled out into the path of a Saturn Vue, striking its left side.

The driver had just left the family house only a few doors down, with his own little daughter in the backseat.

Other vehicles parked in the alley blocked his vision, police said. Charges have not been laid.
