The man standing trial in the death of Delta teen Laura Szendrei pleaded guilty to second-degree murder this morning.
The surprise plea was made in court at the end of preliminary hearing being held this week.
The young man was 17 at the time of the attack on Sept. 25, 2010 and, because of that, his name has not been made public.
Laura was 15 at the time and was attacked while walking through Mackie Park in North Delta. She was found on a heavily wooded trail suffering severe injuries from a beating, and later died in hospital.
