Students take over 'The Now'

Students in Ms. Pesce, Mrs. Brister and Mrs. Pate's class at Latimer Road Elementary school are sitting in the editor's chair for today's special edition of The Now. Editor Beau Simpson visited the class regularly for the past six weeks, helping the junior journalists hone their skills for today's paper, which is filled with their work.

You are holding an issue of the Now that I am extremely proud of. You see, this paper has been months in the making - I have been visiting Ms. Pesce and Mrs. Brister's Grade 6/7 class at Latimer Road Elementary since early November in preparation for this very special edition.

Everything you will read in this issue is from the kids you see at the top of this page.

With Ms. Pesce at the helm, they generated the ideas. They wrote the stories. They took the photos. Some kids even came into the newsroom after school to help me lay out the paper.

I am proud of these kids. The honesty and warmth in their work is sure to touch your heart.

This is their newspaper. This is their voice. Enjoy!
