This year's Pebble Pedal to the Pier, a yearly bike ride from Crescent Beach to the White Rock pier to fundraise for seniors' programs, has been postponed to next spring.
The third annual ride, originally set to take place Sept. 25, was to raise money for Sources Community Resource Centres. Despite having a full lineup of riders, recent difficulties caused the ride to be delayed.
"There were just some unforeseen issues that had come up," said Natasha Raey of Sources. "We want to do a really good job of it, so we're going to postpone it to the spring of 2013."
Raey said the ride, which helps fund such programs as the Sources Food Bank and volunteer drivers program, will likely take place in March or May.
"We usually do our gala in April, so we're looking at doing it right before or right after," she said.
Participants in the ride raise money by getting sponsors for pebbles, with each pebble representing an elderly person in need.
A British legend has it that carrying the pebbles from one shore to another can bring good luck and spread a message of love, hope and peace.
