A Fraser Heights woman who ran back into her burning house Sunday night to save three pet cats has died in hospital.

Firefighters rescued the 59-year-old woman, whose name had not been released by press time, after she was overcome by smoke. She was rushed to Royal Columbian Hospital, in critical condition. Her husband, age 61, made it out of the house but suffered from minor burns.

The fire happened at about 10 p.m., in the 10500-block of Arbutus Wynd.
