Police have arrested a family member in connection with the homicide of Whalley resident Jackie Olson late Monday afternoon.

Olson, 43, was found unconscious in a fourplex in the 13000-block of 103A Avenue after the Surrey RCMP received a 911 call just before 5 p.m. She was pronounced dead at the scene, and the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team was called in.

Police have not said how Olson died. She is Surrey's 11th homicide victim this year.

Sgt. Jennifer Pound, spokeswoman for IHIT, said a family member was arrested early Tuesday morning.

"This individual is currently in custody and IHIT are continuing to sort through the evidence and determine what led up to this tragic crime," she said.
