A 53-year-old Surrey man has been arrested in connection to the pedestrian hit-and-run incident that occurred Monday night at the intersection of 152nd St. and 32nd Ave.
According to an RCMP release, the man has been arrested for dangerous driving causing bodily harm and was released to appear in court in May 2013.
The arrest comes the day after police released a video showing the incident where a white crossover struck down joggers Nola Carlson and Shelley Lammers as they jogged through the intersection at a crosswalk.
"The Surrey RCMP thank the public for their assistance during this investigation," says Surrey RCMP Cpl. Bert Paquet in a statement. "They were instrumental in helping our officers put the pieces together and track down the alleged suspect.
"We worked diligently to ensure that a quick arrest was made, as we are aware of the impact this incident has had on the community and hope this will help to bring some closure to the victims and their families."
Anyone with further information on this incident is asked to contact Surrey RCMP Traffic Services at 604-599-0502 or Crime Stoppers, if they wish to remain anonymous, at 1-800-222-TIPS.
