Police bomb experts have removed the mysterious device found along the SkyTrain line in Surrey on Friday afternoon and are trying to figure out what it is.

Meantime, SkyTrain service has resumed between Scott Road Station and Gateway Station.

A passenger found the device, which looked like a small red fire extinguisher with straps, and wires sticking out of it, on the line midway between the stations.

Anne Drennan, spokeswoman for the Transit Police, said the device has been removed to a safe location "and rendered inert."

"Indications are it may well have been real," she said. Police are investigating.
