Delta Mayor Lois Jackson has won an "Award of Excellence" from the provincial government for "steadfast commitment and leadership" in the realm of emergency preparedness.

Jackson received the award on Nov. 6, at a B.C. emergency preparedness conference.

"I am truly honoured and humbled to receive this award," she said. "The importance of emergency preparedness and executing timely responses to incidents as they occur cannot be understated."
