VPD tells Delta Police to find another emergency response partner

The Vancouver Police have given Delta Police six months' notice to look for another partner for its emergency response team service.

"VPD would assist us if in fact we had a serious situation," Delta Police Chief Jim Cessford told the Now, "but they would prefer that we explored other options for our ERT response."

"We are working within our own department for resources and we are in discussions with the RCMP as well," he added. "I am comfortable with our options at this point."

The VPD has a 32-member emergency response team. Delta's team has eight members.
