Congratulations, Beau Simpson. You expressed views on the proposed casino and very fairly printed responses to those views. That is good honest journalism.
But what dismays me is that so-called influential groups of our society failed to lend their voices to the discussion. First there are the religious faiths. Where are they when we might benefit from some spiritual guidance? Then there are the political candidates, MPs and MLAs who we trust to lead us, but fail in that regard. And there are the businesses that I know hold a diversity of opinion on this issue, but act too intimidated to be counted.
We trust these people to be a large part of the glue that holds our community together, but they have all failed to enter the discussion. This is disgraceful.
