Do you have somebody you would like to thank? Or maybe something you want to get off your chest? Send your rose or rotten tomato to firstname.lastname@example.org. Please keep submissions under 50 words. Watch for Roses and Rotten Tomatoes in the Thursday issue of the now
Bouquets of red roses to businesses that don't allow household pets inside their retail stores. Many people are allergic to dog and cat dander. If household pets are wandering around inside your store, it forces people with allergies to drop their shopping and leave.
A bunch of roses to the father who waited with me (a senior) while I made a bank transaction early Family Day morning. The location was very open and I felt very vulnerable. He had a young daughter waiting for him in his car. You have shown a good example of kindness to your daughter. Thank you again.
A cargo van full of roses to the people who searched for my little dog on Feb. 17. I went to Shoppers with my two little dogs. When I came out of the store, only one was in the car. I was frantic. Many people helped me for 45 minutes to try to find her with no success. I must say it has a happy ending and my dog is home safe and sound - she went to one of my neighbour's. It restored my faith in humanity. A big thank you to all the people who went out of their way.
Two semi trucks full of rotten tomatoes back to the pitbull owner who thinks that drivers who accidentally hit their unleashed, roaming dog should pay for the vet bills. The innocent driver is not responsible for leashing, securing or training your dog not to run out into the street - you are. Shame on you for trying to make someone else pay for your mistakes.
Rotten tomatoes to Radio India's airwaves. You've come to this country, as we all have, for a better life, so leave the baggage behind where it belongs. Don't poison Canada with events that happened half a world away and 100 years ago.
A bouquet of roses to the lifeguards and staff of the South Surrey Pool for providing a Valentine's Day feast of goodies complete with a cupid and delightful live harp music.
Rotten tomatoes to the person who stole the angel from my porch. The right arm had been broken off in the past - I glued it back together because the blowing kiss meant so much to me. It was a memorial to my friend who died from ovarian cancer. She was one of my bridesmaids; I have her on tape blowing us a kiss at my wedding. That angel was special to me. I hope you feel ashamed every time you look at it, maybe even so ashamed you bring it back.
Rotten tomatoes to the two cops who were manning a radar trap on 168th Street. If you're not going to offer the option to have speedometer control in vehicles, then you have no right to be taking away people's hard-earned money when they go over the imaginary line. If you are really concerned about the safety of the citizens - and are not just cashing in - then you will put this idea into effect immediately.
Roses (and kudos) to the entry from Thursday, Jan. 24: "Rotten tomatoes to the losers who still drive way over the speed limit on the Pattullo Bridge." There isn't anything wrong with the Pattullo Bridge - the problem is the drivers who drive across it.
