Boxers shine in Langley

 

 
 
 

Two Surrey-area fighters emerged with titles from the latest installment of the Clash at the Cascade boxing series in Langley Friday night.

Staged in the ballroom of the Coast Hotel and Convention Centre and hosted by City Boxing, the card attracted more than 500 fight fans to watch 10 scheduled bouts.

In the main event, six-foot-six Port Kells fighter Ritchie Evanochko got up from the canvas after a second-round knock down and earned a unanimous decision over Richmond's Nate Nowalk. Evanochko captured the City heavyweight title with the win.

Kylic Taylor of the Ocean Park Boxing Club recorded a third-round TKO of Narinder Akali (Port Kells) to win the City super middleweight title. The fight turned in Taylor's favour when Akali sustained a cut in the second round.

In other action, Jamie Chadwick (Port Kells) scored a win in the middleweight division while another Port Kells fighter, Julian Kim picked up the win at light heavyweight.

In women's competition, Jillian Sask of Port Kells lost her bout to Darcie Nestor of Chilliwack.
