Six games - five ties. That was the menu served up by the Vancouver Metro Soccer League's premier division on the final weekend of the regular season.

The lone game with an actual winner came Friday night in Vancouver where the Delta United Hurricanes were upended 2-1 by the lowly Vancouver Olympics.

To add insult to the pain of the setback was the loss of key Hurricane players Ryan Dhillon and Arjun Atwal, both of whom were sent off with red cards. Neither player will be available this weekend when the Hurricanes take on rival ICST Pegasus in Imperial Cup action at John Oliver Park Sunday at 2 p.m.

Pegasus ended the regular season with a 22 draw against Croatia in Newton last Friday.

Elsewhere, defending provincial champion Surrey United Firefighters ended the regular season on a tepid note when they settled for a 1-1 draw in Coquitlam Tuesday night.

"It's funny, we played 22 games this year and this was our first tie - 12 wins, nine losses and a tie," said Surrey coach Rob Reed. "For us it was our last league game so it really didn't mean much because all we have left are cup games. We wanted to leave the field feeling positive about ourselves and we put forth a good effort. It could have been better but we missed a penalty kick on the last kick of the game."

Sean Einarsson scored the lone Surrey goal. Surrey opens Imperial Cup play by hosting Inter FC of the first division Saturday at noon at Cloverdale Athletic Park.

Newton's Rovers CCBTU slowed their second half freefall with a 2-2 draw against league champion Columbus in Vancouver Saturday. The Rovers are in Vancouver again on Sunday to take on Westside in an Imperial Cup fixture.
