The Surrey Eagles spent Saturday night shooting blanks in a 3-0 shutout loss to the host Prince George Spruce Kings in B.C. Hockey League action.
Surrey native and Prince George goalie Kirk Thompson spoiled the Eagles' northern road trip by stopping 38 shots to earn the goose egg.
The loss dropped the Eagles' record to 4-4-0-1 on the season, good for last place in the Mainland Division.
"We just ran into a really hot goalie to be honest," said Eagles coach Matt Erhart. "He got the shutout and was player of the week with two wins on the weekend. I thought we out-chanced them but they buried a couple of their chances and we ran into a stone wall.
"The bottom line is we need guys to step up and score goals. It's great to have 38 shots and lots of chances but it doesn't mean anything if you can't score on those chances."
The Eagles are home for two games this weekend when they host Vernon on Friday (7 p.m.) and Trail Sunday (4 p.m.) at South Surrey Arena.
