Thirteen-year-old Spencer Principe earned a place on the B.C. team for the upcoming Western Canadian Gymnastics Championships with a golden performance at the Christy Fraser Memorial Invitational in Langley.
The Surrey Gymnastics Society athlete captured the all-around title thanks to a gold medal on the vault, silvers for the pommel horse and high bar and a bronze on the parallel bars.
Principe will head to Winnipeg for the Westerns in early May.
In the girls' Level 5 Open qualification for Westerns, 19-year-old Alanna Jones narrowly missed a trip to Winnipeg with a fourth-place finish in the all-around.
Sarah Tobin (11-years-old) placed fifth in the all-around standings for girls' tyro, good enough for a spot on the zone team for the upcoming B.C. championships.
