Cup in Surrey on Sunday

Vancouver may not have secured the Stanley Cup in 98 years, but the glorious metallic mug is getting some ice time in Surrey.

Lord Stanley's Cup is in town for one day only, this Sunday, Feb. 24. The holy grail of hockey will be on display from noon to 5 p.m. at Surrey Sport & Leisure Complex, 16555 Fraser Hwy.

The trophy is touring the country, courtesy of Scotiabank, at open house events that illustrate the history of the sport. The stop at the rec centre, in Fleetwood, will also feature historic artifacts from the Hockey Hall of Fame, interactive games, giveaways and the opportunity to have your photo taken with the silver stein.

Surrey is home to a number of current NHLers, including two-time Stanley Cup winner Colin Fraser, currently with Los Angeles Kings.
